The Brooklyn School for Collaborative Studies

BCS is our sister secondary school, created by parents and teachers 16 years ago to offer a BNS style education to older children. Founding Principal Alyce Barr saw seven classes of seniors graduate and go off to college. Scill Chan, former BCS high school director, is currently the principal.

From the BCS website:

At BCS, we design inquiry-based curriculum, resulting in students using real-world tools for discovery, analysis, and expression of their learning.

In a small, safe, community where every student is known, The Brooklyn School for Collaborative Studies (BCS) prepares young people in grades 6 through 12 for success in college and post-secondary careers. BCS is a member of the national network of  Expeditionary Learning Schools which promotes rigorous and engaging curriculum; active, inquiry-based pedagogy; and a school culture that demands and teaches compassion and good citizenship.
